I need to share big news with you: we’re selling our Historic Home! You need to watch the real estate video that Matt had made for the listing, it made us both cry. I know so many of you watched as we renovated this home over the past 7 years, and I’m so grateful that you shared the journey with us. This truly is the end of an era and the beginning of a big new chapter for us!

7 years ago we bought this beautiful historic home from 1886 in Kingsville, Ontario. I was at my friend’s who actually lives next door, and I said that to her that I wanted to find a home that had beautiful bones and massive windows, with magical light….and she was like, “what about the house next door? He wants to sell.” I remember it like it was yesterday! I was like, “what house?!” You couldn’t even see the house, the property was so overgrown, that the house was completely hidden.
How we found our Historic Home
We walked out of my friend’s home, in bare feet, and started walking up the path to the house next door, and we had to go right up to it and look straight up in the air to see the house, the trees were so thick, they’d grown right into the house…..suddenly, I saw the prettiest house I had ever seen, it was like a secret garden! I called my husband, and he came right over and we knocked on the back door. The owner, opened the door. He was the gentlest, nicest man. We said, we heard you wanted to sell your home and he said, yes I do, would you like to come in and see it? I almost died, it was so exciting. We walked into a cramped little kitchen, then through a dining room, and when we turned the corner we saw through to the living room which, in that moment, stole my heart. The light pouring in through the wavy glass windows, and the 10ft ceilings! We were was sold.
Jaw-Dropping Renovation Before and Afters
You can read every post I created sharing the step by step transformation of this home. For example, when we turned the dining room into a kitchen, that’s one of my favourites. Or all the trim work Matt’s friend Matt Cornies did to make the front living room so stunning, and the mural that I put on the ceiling. You know when we bought the home, there was no bathroom on the main floor, so we added a powder room and a laundry room. We turned a storage space in an old porch into a beautiful dining room, or the runner we put on the staircase…loved that project! Oh my gosh the bathroom that we renovated, you need to see that! Brides and the AirBNB Business
You guys know that we left this home and then did a massive renovation on a dream Lakehouse…well it started out as a broken down lake claptrap…but ended up pretty magical. We I found the lake home, I had a dream to keep this historic home and turn it into a rental property that was designed for brides to stay in on their wedding weekends, so they would be able to be with their bridesmaids and get beautiful photos on the mornings of their weddings. Well that dream came to life and we were fortunate enough to have countless brides share their special days with us. The photos that we have been tagged in over the years have continuously taken our breath away! The light in this house was made for photography!
THANK YOU, to all the brides, wedding planners, and photographers who trusted us with their most special days over the years, we can never thank you enough!
Why we’re selling
I’m sure you’re wondering why we’re selling this fairytale home. This home has brought us so much good fortune and happiness, so it has been an incredibly tough decision to sell. The truth is that we are moving about 40 minutes away, so that I can pursue my dreams that are, of course, with a house…well houses actually! My family is so supportive that they are willing to SELL IT ALL and head towards a new adventure. I will be sharing where we are going and exactly what we are doing very soon! What I have realized is that I can’t stop creating, that’s for sure, and I really miss sharing the process here! Honestly, there is no me without dreaming and creating a home. I can’t thank my family enough for being willing to trust me on this massive next journey. I really hope that you guys will come along and see what I have planned, I think you’ll like it. The vibes are going to be Nancy Myers charming for days!
