You guys, it’s true, we sold our Lake house and bought a new home! I have so much to share with you. On July 4th we listed and sold our home in one day. The market had just begun to change, and we had been talking about selling for sometime, and we had finally finished the 3 year renovation, so we took a chance! As you know my husband, Matt, is an amazing realtor and he sold it for us. That was an absolutely incredible experience! He did an un-freaking-believable job!!

So here’s the story of the sale! July 4th we listed mid morning, and Matt called me shortly after and told me about the showings that were booked right after the listing went live. Luckily, we were super prepared, so I was ready! I went to the park down the street and hung out on a bench talking to a friend. Then he called and kept extending it because there were more. Later that day, I picked my kids up from camp and I couldn’t take them home because another showing had been added, I kept driving by our house, to see if we could go in, but a couple was still in our home. So I remember, we parked a street over, and I got the girls McDonalds to eat in the van, and we were all so nervous and excited. Suddenly, Matt called me and said that we were getting an offer. I was stunned. We were prepared for it to take a half of a year or more, because of the sudden change in the market. That night we got the offer.
The toughest part was that they had asked for all the furniture?! The thing was that the offer had no conditions and it was for the price we wanted, and Matt said we need to take this deal. You know what, we’ve never looked back. I think Matt’s advice was really good and not to let the furniture cloud the deal. Plus everyone knows I love to buy furniture! You know what is SO CRAZY? We have had 6 homes and every single one the people bought our furniture! In one of the homes, even the picture frames, and we just took our photos out! So I guess it’s a pretty strong and very flattering tradition. The funny thing is that now that we’ve found our new home, it’s so ironic, because the majority wouldn’t go with it, anyway. Spoiler alert, our new home is sooooo freaking different, you guys won’t believe it! We love it so much, it’s insane, I think it’s all we talk about!
One of the most emotional parts about the fact that we sold our lake house, was leaving our neighbours, we had made once in a lifetime relationships with our neighbours beside and across from us, they are like extra sets of grandparents to our girls and extra parents to us. Our next door neighbour was Matt’s music teacher growing up, and actually the reason that he became a teacher.
*You guys, I’m adding this edit in after having published the post because I just got a message from the buyers of our home, who we adore btw, and Denise the new owner said not to worry because they are going to take care of our neighbours for us…oh my gosh how special. We love the new buyers! **PLUS, we are still here for anything you ever need Norm, Eleanor, and Rosemary! We love you for life!
We didn’t go far though, actually about 3 minutes away! lol! We are back at the home that we turned into to an airbnb, it’s a beautiful historic home on Main Street, that we renovated about 5 years ago. You can see so many posts for the home by clicking, here. We are really enjoying our time here. We moved in at the beginning of October. Believe it or not, I have already done a mini-makeover in the living room, and I’m shooting the new space this weekend!
I know you must be asking, how could we leave the lake? The truth is that the lake was incredible, but we were ready for our next adventure and a new home. To know me is to know that I LOVE GROWTH AND CHANGE! After renovating 6 homes in 11 years, we started to dream of experiencing a new home, one with a basement for the girls to hangout in, a pool, a garage…and man did we find it! Everyone kept telling me I’d never find something that I liked, without renovating…but I did! You guys won’t believe the 180 that we are doing. I’ll share details about the new home in the next post, so stay tuned! Don’t worry I will still be able to add my touch through decor, and I think you’ll be pretty entertained seeing me try out an all new style! I’ll share some sneak peeks in my next post!
All I can say is that we are SO GRATEFUL for how it all turned out and feel blessed to have owned such a special home! Thank you guys for having been here for the renovation, that was one epic story with such a happy ending!
