Hey guys, I’m sharing our little sloped ceiling laundry moment with you! It’s such a small space that I can’t really call it a room! lol! The upstairs of our Capecod Lake House has a really large hallway with a really sloped ceiling. I decided to make use of a little corner in it, with our laundry machines. They were originally in the mudroom and right when you came into the house. I had that layout in the past and did not want to come home to laundry ever again! lol!
The Before
Guys, check out what the before of this space looked like! Oh my goodness thank you to Matt’s Dad for scraping up that linoleum and demoing those closets. We also closed in the door at the end of the hall to our ensuite, so you don’t pass through the bathroom to get to the master anymore! lol!
Second Floor Laundry
I have moved laundry from the basement to the main floor twice but never up to the second floor…obsessed! No more laundry insight when you come home!
Stylish storage
Since the laundry room is right in the hallway, I wanted to make the few things I needed to store feel special and styled. I decided to move our lucite bar cart from the dining room up here to house baskets with detergent, stain remover, and odd socks. We really don’t use much for laundry, so this worked out perfectly. It can also hold laundry baskets on top too.
Laundry Machines
Our machines are LG and from The Brick. Our last Salvaged Farmhouse Laundry Room had an LG washer and Dryer from The Brick and we have loved them! We’ve never had a problem and they are used daily, since we turned that home into an airbnb! So we had to go with LG again! They are so quiet and fit so much…I’m becoming a laundry Ninja with the machines upstairs…I can do laundry anytime….love it!
I really love having the machines tucked into this spot that would have otherwise been a dead space. It doesn’t affect me using the countertop to fold at all and it’s such a functional little nook!
Chippendale Fretwork Gable
Instead of walling things off in a room, I opted to keep things open and for some chippendale fretwork on the gable end to support the counter that matches the railing in our mudroom. It’s a little detail that makes it feel special. Thank you to T.J. from SPIR Construction for brining my vision to life!
Faux Yucca Plant
The faux potted Yucca Plant from Decors Veronneau that I added to the space totally brought it to life and makes me smile when I walk down the hall! It looks and feels so real…you never would have known that it wasn’t real, if I didn’t tell you, right??!
What do you guys think of having our laundry tucked into a sloped ceiling? Are you team laundry upstairs or downstairs?
