I have wanted a matching pair of Serena and Lily Costa X-Base stools to update our home forever! The chunky hand-braided hyacinth texture and sculptural X shape, made them a must-have for me. The moment these stools arrived, I knew they were a keeper because I just kept moving them around to every room in the house, which inspired me to show you the Serena and Lily Costa X-Base stool styled 3 ways in our home. Read to the end to find out which lucky space I ended up choosing to update with them! I’m also sharing some sneaks peeks of new never before seen spaces in our home that really benefited from a little accent stool styling, so keep your eyes peeled š This post is in partnership with Serena & Lily, a brand I love.Ā All opinions here are my own.
Serena and Lily Costa X-Base Stool Styled 3 Ways
1. Bath Tub Styling with an X-Base Stool
We recently completely renovated our girls bath and this is actually the first time that I’m sharing a sneak peek into the space. I shot the reveal a couple months ago, but still felt like something was missing. I had a vision of using the Costa X-Base Stool in front of the tub and I couldn’t let it go…it just provides the perfect hit of texture, and a place to rest a towel, or a glass of wine. I finally held off on the reveal, so I could get this shot with the stool. I know I’m pretty picky but it was #worthit! I also love their Dip-dyed stools in front of a bath tub. I think those might be my next purchase! Serena and Lily have so many accent stools that would be perfect in front of a bathtub and you’ll find all my favourites linked below.
We recently revealed out Coastal Ensuite Reno, in case you missed it. Also, since this is the 6th home we’ve renovated (so insane…lol!) You can see all 6 bathroom renovations we’ve done in one place, here.
Here’s the shot I got a while back, doesn’t the stool’s chunky, hand-braided hyacinth add amazing texture to the room?

2. A Pair of X-Base Stools as a Coffee Table
I love the two stool look, as a coffee table in our new family room…oh man I’m giving away all the sneak peeks! My husband and I both love to pull the coffee table right over to where we’re sitting, so a light weight stool works perfectly to place your coffee on a small tray, or to put your laptop on, or rest your feet. Also, a pair means we’re not fighting over who gets one, and the compact size would be great for a smaller space. I just can’t get over the visual interest they add to the room. I’ve linked a bunch of stools that would look great, in a pair, as a coffee table below.
Love all these options to pair as a coffee table
3. X-Base Stools on the End of the Bed
I think we can all agree that a pair of these stools at the end of the bed is stunning. I had actually mentioned in our Master Bedroom Reveal that one of the items I still needed to get to really finish the space was matching x-base stools for the end of the bed….mission accomplished! (See below for how empty it looked without them!) Of all the spots I moved the stools around to, since getting them, the end of the bed is where they found their home. They are perfect for resting all my pillows on at night (umm and laundry on…lol let’s be honest here!), and would look amazing styled with a throw. I included a bunch of throws that would be perfect to style in a bedroom below. I was actually scrolling through instagram the other day and a high-end designer space came up that had these exact stools at the end of the bed and I hit Matt, and I was like, “our stools!!” You honestly cannot go wrong adding a pair of Costas to the foot of your bed.
Loving these throws for the bedroom
Before the Stools…
See how it just feels like something’s missing? The end of the bed feels naked, right?! These stools were exactly what our bedroom needed to officially be finished…well finished for now at least! It’s like a spot the difference kids game when you look between the before and after photos…how many subtle differences can you see between the photo above and below? lol!
Without the stools, my eyes are really drawn to the feet of the bed and empty space below…not what I was going for
After… Stool Update to the Rescue and cue the perfect focal point
Which of the 3 ways that I styled our new stools is your favourite?
So many questions…I’m dying to know which way you liked the stools styled best? Have I converted you to team X-base stools? Did you catch all the sneak peeks of new spaces? Would love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

Leslie, your taste is impeccable! Lol, while I loved the stool in the bathroom (gorgeous by the way), somehow I donāt foresee your daughters relaxing with a drink any time soon. My vote is at the foot of your bed.
