Did you know it’s been 8.5 months since we’ve had a dining room?! We started packing up in June to move and we haven’t had a dining room much less a dining table since because we turned the original dining room into the new kitchen! (We’re actually turning the porch into a dining room right now every Thursday for the One Room Challenge). It has been SO tough not to have Christmas parties and all the other holiday dinner parties we used to have. Well, this past weekend we couldn’t wait any longer and hosted a dinner party with help from my friends at The Brick. You won’t believe this, we took EVERYTHING out of our living room and turned it into a Pop-Up dining room!
The craziest thing is we both love this space so much that we started contemplating leaving it as a dining room! The dining set that we picked is so perfect for the space!

Dining Table
I chose the Aspen dining table and chairs. I love how the Aspen table has chunky turned posts and the wire brushed texture of the table top is so good.
Dining Chairs
The Aspen chair material is light and bright with a linen look, lined with nailheads, and the front chair legs have have such a nice spindle detail.
Dining Bench
My favourite part about this look is that I customized the set by mixing in this wingback bench. I love dining rooms that have tufted benches! The Lottie Wingback Hall Bench has such great lines and I’m obsessed with tufted pieces because they keep their shape and have such a tailored feel.
Centrepiece
The finishing touch on our table is my latest obsession! The two ginger jars that I’m using as centrepieces are from The Brick too. It’s unreal how much I’ve been using them! They are in my Transitional Glam Family Room Reveal and our Spring Kitchen Home Tour…obsessed!
The Moral of the Story
Our dinner party was so much fun and the furniture was perfect! I’m so happy that we didn’t wait another minute to start entertaining! Sometimes you get such tunnel vision when you’re renovating and you never think that your home is “ready” but if you get creative you can always make it work. Thank you so much to The Brick for making this space happen, it was so fun to, spontaneously and beautifully, completely reinvent a room in our house…I’m already planning our next dinner party!
This Space as a Living Room
If you want to see what this space looks like as a living room, details about our trim, or details on our ceiling I’ve linked those posts!
Do you prefer this space as a living room or dining room?

I totally agree! It’s crazy because it’s not the dining room but the furniture just totally made it feel perfect and now we don’t know what to do?! lol! First world problems! lol!

So beautifully put together Leslie! Love the bench seat and the table! Also those pillows are perfect in there!
leslie says
Thank you so much! The bench adds so much eh?! It’s right where my eye goes…I’ve loved them so much whenever I’ve seen them! thanks again for the encouragement!

I adore this space as a dining room! Looks soooo good Leslie! Since there wasn’t much of a separation between the family room and living room, it looked like way too much seating everywhere but with the dining room it feels like a complete space! But I can’t wait to see how this looks in the porch area!
leslie says
I know it’s so tricky what to do with this room…it is a lot of seating but then it’s not exactly enough just to have the family room…hmmmm I’m so confused now! lol!!
Kajani says
I totally get it! You should try making the family room into a dining space and the living room to family room? Just a thought! I’m sure whatever you decide will work out nicely!
leslie says
That’s so funny because that is what I was going to do originally before we moved in…lol…I haven’t thought of that for a while now…this house has so many possibilities! lol!

I absolutely love everything about this! It’s beyond gorgeous, L!!!
leslie says
Oh my gosh Julie thank you!! I love your dining room too!!

Love, love, love it as a dining room! Your whole house is gorgeous but I too thought the family and living room so close together and open was too much seating space in one area. Maybe consider the living room in the porch area. Whatever you decide everything in your home is beyond beautiful and amazing! A home to be quite proud of….
leslie says
Oh that’s awesome it’s definitely causing me major confusion with how to keep going! lol…this dining room experiment was “too” successful! Now I have no clue what to do! lololol! Thanks so much for weighing in!
