I love this bathroom renovation because it combines two of my favourite things: marble tile stripes and a round window! I can’t wait to show you all the functionality and pretty that I squeezed into our daughter’s bathroom! I love these shots that I got of Juliette modelling her new bathroom…what a love!
Round Window
From the moment we bought this lake house, I knew that I wanted to include an oval window and a round window somewhere because they are just so quintessential coastal…right?!
(You might remember that I had to get pretty creative, in order to include the oval window- It’s actually inside the house over our coffee bar. I love this window, because it lets you see into our mudroom from the kitchen coffee bar, and out to the lake from the mudroom.
I decided to put this huge round window over the bathtub, when I realized that if you’re sitting in the tub you would have a view to the lake. I just love the look of round windows over bathtubs…they feel so nautical. It’s also cool because the bathroom is at the end of the hall and the round window is a really inspiring focal point, as you walk down the hallway.
Originally, the view was just a dark and dank windowless tiled shower (pictured just below this photo). I know it means we’ll have a shower curtain, if use the shower, but I had to go for it. Right now we only use it as a tub. We have two other showers in the house, so it’s worked out awesome. Check out this before and after! Every time I see these befores, I kind of still can’t believe we bought this house! lol!
Delta Plumbing Fixtures
You guys it’s really hard to believe but this is my 7th bathroom renovation that I have collaborated on with Delta Faucet Canada! Isn’t that wild? In case you’ve missed the others I’ve linked them all here, Bathroom Renovations.
Even after creating 7 bathrooms, I’m not even a little tired of their Cassidy collection. I still love the cross handles so much, and I have used them in every project! I used the champagne bronze finish in this bathroom. I also adore the polished nickel and I think if I do another, I’ll be using polished nickel because I’m loving silver cooler tones lately. Are guys Team Brass or Polished Nickel? I used the polished nickel finish in our Modern French Country Ensuite, 3 houses back.
You can see the cassidy faucets in this shot and a before of the space below! How fun is it that we maximized the space with a 60″ double vanity from what was a tiny storage-less pedestal! yay!
Faux Roman Shade with Cordless Roller Shade
I think natural light is so important in a bathroom, it is what makes all the beautiful tile and clean surfaces sparkle, so it can be tricky to find the perfect window covering. I have found it though guys! Q Design Centre makes a faux roman shade that is basically a valance that looks like it’s a roman shade, that sits in front of a cordless roller shade and the combo is perfection. I love the polished fabric detail and the easy functionality of a cordless roller shade. The shade comes in many different opacities from black out to light filtering and you can order samples to find the perfect fit. This fabric is the tiny stripe in the colour fog. I chose the tiny stripe to match the wide stripes on the wall, but add some contrast with the thin stripe.
Marble Tile Stripes
I’m not sure if you guys remember but a couple houses back, I created these marble and subway tile stripes in what I think is my fav bathroom I ever did. I called it Striped Marble Bathroom Renovation. In that bathroom I used these stripes in a horizontal pattern, and so this time I used them vertically. I just love them…they feel like wallpaper with this application over the bevelled subway tile! I used this pattern horizontally in our lake house as a backsplash downstairs in the coffee bar. This is my signature move and I know I’ll do it again if we ever move, just love it!
The Bathtub…saved the best for last!
You guys until about 6 weeks ago, I hadn’t taken a bath in 6 years. I’m not kidding, there always seemed like way too much to do and we didn’t even have one in our last house. Suddenly about 6 weeks ago, we finished everything last thing on the list at this lake house, and I thought…I should take a bath! K, I did not expect to love it like I did and now I’m hooked trying to take them as often as possible.
I’m not the only one who loves this tub, my daughter Penelope spends hours in here! I have to share the cutest pic of her eating an egg mcmuffin and watching her shows on her laptop…so cute!
5 Star Bathtub for a Steal!
If you’re looking for a great bathtub I’m so happy with this one. I love the look and shape of it, but also, It’s really comfortable! This bathtub was a total score on wayfair! It arrived with a crack and they sent a new one with no questions! I just checked in on it, since it’s been a couple of years since I bought it, and it has 86 five star reviews…like when does that ever happen!
This bathroom is super hard to shoot a photo of the full space at once, so I took a really wide shot so you can see how the entire space comes together. Tucking the toilet under the dormer made it possible to have a double vanity on the other side. I can’t believe how much we squeezed into this little space, so happy with how it turned out in the end!
I know one little girl that loves her new space! What do you guys think of the new bathroom? Would love to hear your thoughts, and thank you so much for being here!
