The Lakehouse Master Bedroom Reveal that I started during the Spring One Room Challenge is finally done…ironically, just in time for the Fall One Room Challenge reveal…lol! My husband calls it One Room MANY Challenges! lol!! It was WORTH the wait because we now have the most beautiful bedroom and fancy new bed to lay our heads down on now, instead of a head scratcher of a room that kept me awake at night plotting…lol!

Once I decided to tear apart, literally every wall, and change and replace all the windows, I knew it was going to be worth it to customize every detail; all the way to having the bed, the mattress, and the drapery all custom made. We’re so thankful and thrilled with how it turned out!

So excited to share the best part: the before and afters!

Custom Upholstered Bed

Because I put the bed against a wall of rectangular windows, I knew that I wanted a headboard with beautiful curves and for it to be white! After searching for the perfect bed, I fell so in love with Lauren Haskell’s Pendleton Bed. I love the piping detail and the white is perfect to be able to restyle the bed with different seasons and colours schemes. I’m so happy with my choice and I love how the curves of the bed mirror the curves in the nightstands.

You can also purchase just the headboard and the bed also comes in the prettiest shades of light blue, navy, pink, and natural linen! I restyled my favourite ginger jars on the nightstands, which are from Lauren Haskell too!

Sleeping like a King, On Our New King Size Mattress! Yassss!

When we moved into the Lakehouse (before shot pictured above), we had left our dreamy Stearns & Foster Mattress from our last bedroom behind for our airbnb guests. (We wanted the airbnb to be a big success, so we kept the best of everything in it!) However, that meant that we found ourselves back on the mattress we had when we first met and that felt totally deflating- literally and figuratively!

I made the decision that I had to get our new bedroom feeling as amazing as the old one. My first thought was that I needed to get our exact mattress back! Matt and I had tested probably 30 mattresses and we thought we had died and gone to heaven from the first time we laid down on it and every night after! In my opinion the best mattress in the universe is this one: the Stearns & Foster Founder’s Collection Silver Coast Plush Eurotop.

I’m so lucky that Stearns & Foster wanted to work on our new room! There’s no way the room would have been anything noteworthy, if we weren’t sleeping like kings, in the end..speaking of kings, I also decided to upgrade from a queen mattress to king! Best decision ever!!

Drapery

One of my favourite details in our bedroom (and our entire home, actually) is our custom drapery from Q Design Centre. I’m so happy that I went with this stripe! It just adds so much style and personality, while still feeling completely neutral. I also love the subtle interest the stripe adds to the drapery and the beautiful life it adds to the roman shades.

Pillows and Bedding

These pillows from Jolie Marche completely finished the space. I am just obsessed with the combination!! Up until the bedroom was finished, I had to try these pillows everywhere! In my living room when I did the coastal chic styling, and in my mudroom (the fancy one with the wallpaper that I still need to do the actual reveal for with furniture…one day!;)) I love the pillows everywhere, but I love them best in here. I’m kind of also obsessed with my styling idea to have three different and then one lumber in front…I haven’t seen that anywhere…please let me have this one little original idea internet! lol

The pillows on my bed are the Ginger in 14 x 36, and the Greta, Olive, and Taylor, all in 20″ square.

The bedding is made up of my absolute favourites: this quilt, 3 x euro shams, and this matching coverlet.

Faux Florals and Trees

You guys know that I’m really on the faux flower train right now, and I love that I have a massive rubbermaid of Decors Veronneau blooms to pull from, and I’m not kidding you about ten mins before the shoot, I grabbed it and made the two arrangements by my bed. I so recommend investing in faux florals to pull a space together! My favourite new addition to these bouquets are the olive branches, they are so cute with their little green olives. I need to get more of these! All of the other flowers in the arrangements can be found in this post.

Both the olive tree in the white chevron belly basket, and the Traveller Palm tree in the grey colour block belly basket are from Decors Veronneau. The trees really brought a lot of personality, and style to the space. I’ve added a tree to every room lately (even our laundry room and bathroom!) and it has really added a lot of impact to our spaces. I just added a larger olive tree with green olives to our mudroom and I can’t wait to show you how it looks!

Light Fixture

Last but not least, you guys know I love my lights, I wanted to share this flushmount that I found a few years ago. I actually had it in the hallway at the airbnb and I replaced it with a different light because I knew it was actually destined for this room. I love it so much! You can get it in so many different shapes and sizes, as well as in chandeliers.
