Cozy, modern fall home tour?! I know what you’re thinking, can modern be cozy? Yes, cozy modern is totally a thing, and it’s the style that I’ve got going on right now…you need to come see! This is THE FIRST blog post from inside our new modern home (cue the streamers and noise makers), and I’m so excited to share with you how I have made it feel cozy, and with each new addition more and more like my style.
We moved into our home on June 2, 2023 and I’ve spent the last year finding furniture. I say the last year because we bought this home at the end of September a year ago and then had to wait 10 months to take possession till June, while the previous owners were building their new home. We lived at our airbnb while we waited…it turned out to be a lot of fun to have so much anticipation! You can hear the story about how we found this incredibly special home, here.
I have so much that I still want to add, but I feel like the entry and living room are really feeling so awesome, so I had to share! I hope you guys will enjoy seeing how I take such a modern beginning and fuse it with my style.
Falling in Love with our Home (pun intended!)
To start off, we really love our home…it’s actually kind of startling because I am so used to moving (this is our 7th home, thank you guys for embarking on another new journey here!). The truth is, especially now with Thanksgiving just having taken place, we are really feeling like settling in and staying. I love the cozy touches that we’ve put up for the season so much. Every new piece that I add makes me fall in love with our home more and more.
One other unbelievable bonus to this home is that both of our girls have made best friends with the neighbours next door. The kids literally all go to the same school, get off the bus and run together, and play till it’s bedtime. I could not have dreamed of something more perfect. As far as they are concerned we are never moving! So, it’s my job to make this home feel like my own and that I’m surrounded by my designs, even if we aren’t starting from a renovation. I’m feeling truly inspired right now to do that and share the process with you.
Modern, Yet So Cozy, Fall Entry

Coziest Modern Fall Living Room
You’re not going to believe this, but after I styled the house for fall Matt said, “Have you given any thought to your colour palette for spring this year?” I almost fell off my chair. He has never asked me a thing about decorating in the 12 years that we’ve been married. I kept thinking about what he said because it was so sweet and the next morning, I said what made you ask that? He said that he couldn’t believe the effect that the fall additions had on the house and how cozy it felt!! I almost died… He is right though, I didn’t add much and the space does feel transformed. Hopefully, I can inspire you guys to add a couple branches and pumpkins to let your cozy in!
Rose Wall Feeling like Fall Leaves
I really wanted the wine wall that pre-existed in the house to feel pretty and add a colourful statement, so I decided to do the entire wall in Rose. I had so much fun picking out all the prettiest bottles that I could find. It’s actually perfect for fall because the colour palette turned out to match with my cozy modern fall vibes. One idea that I’d love to do in this space is add a bold statement wallpaper behind the bottles!
Kitchen Changes on the Brain
Ok, so, I’m dying to change the pendant lights over the island! My first design love is lighting and I have been thinking forever about the lights that would really spark joy for me. It’s tricky because there are 5 pendants, so they can’t be big or they won’t fit…which kills me a little because I love huge lights, but the multiples could be amazing, if I figure out the right ones. Also, it’s so tough because whatever I choose, I have to multiply the price by 5! It’s going to be so worth it though because I’ll love looking at them so much. I really hope to have them ordered by Black Friday and find what I’m looking for on sale…fingers crossed….I can’t wait!
One element I added were these modern counter stools from ByCrea…you can customize the metal colour, chair colour and material, and the height. Use my coupon code THELESLIESTYLE44AP to get 15% off, if they work in your space. I think with new pendants they will really pop!
Modern Style Who Dis?!
Thanks so much for coming to see the first real blog post at the new home! Other then, this post, where I shared photos of the exterior and the story about how we found this home! What do you guys think about trying out this new modern style? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments and thank you for stopping in! Happy Thanksgiving!
