If you follow me, you’ll know that I define my style as airy, modern, and feminine and this bathroom really is the definition of my style!
Before Renovation Pics
This is our only bathroom upstairs, so it needs to be beautiful but HARD working. As you can see originally it had a tub and NO shower! How people made it through since 1887 without a shower I will never know, but we lasted 8 minutes after taking possession before demo. LOL…I wish I was carefree and could just deal with things but I’m not. lol… So it also just had a pedestal sink…think about that one for a second. Only bathroom upstairs no shower or storage. That’s a head scratcher.
Must Haves for the Renovation
- Double Vanity with lots of storage and drawers
- Glass Shower (ours is from Bayview Glass and they ROCK)
My formula for this bathroom was simple. I planned to take everything that I learned from our past bathroom renovations and apply them here!
What I’ve Learned from 4 Bathroom Renovations (including this one)
- Anything dark feels so heavy in a bathroom.
- White beveled subway tile sparkles and gives you that clean shiny feeling of dreams.
- Faux or real marble are gorgeous for floors.
- Herringbone is the most beautiful floor pattern in life.
- Glass walls are so key in a shower.
- Champagne Bronze from Delta Faucet is the only finish
- Use marble sills or quartz sills to frame the shower pan
- Statement mirrors are everything!
- *Installing towel bars, towel rings, toilet paper holder, toilet tank lever, and robe hooks that match your faucets is such a polished detail!
- a vanity needs DRAWERS…as many as you can get.
*Design is in the details and Delta Faucet has them all…
Plumbing Fixtures
Faucet
If you have followed our last 3 bathroom renovations, you know that I am die hard in love with delta faucets…specifically the cross handles. It wasn’t even a question that I was using them again. The look and feel of their cross handle faucet in the champagne bronze is Heaven on Earth…I so wish they had a kitchen faucet with these handles!
Shower Head
I have tried 3 completely different Delta Faucet shower heads and I am in love with the Cassidy Raincan shower head. In our last home we had the same shower functionality but with the modern Trinsic look and it was amazing, so I got it this time in the the Cassidy vintage look. It’s such an amazing shower head. I invite you to come and try it…it’s the best. (The best Jerry.) lol…I had to put that in for my Dad and any other Seinfeld fans of course.
Wallpaper
I’ve always wanted to wallpaper a bathroom. I swoon over bathrooms that I see on Pinterest with dramatic paper and I finally took the plunge and I love it! This wallpaper is from Stagg Design. It’s the Vivienne Floral in Blush and it’s so perfect. The mix of pinks, and muted grey-greens are perfection. It’s a feminine floral with a modern look.
Roman Shade
Another must have for our space was a window treatment that would completely cover the window for full privacy but let all the light in and be gorgeous. I fell in love with Q Design Centre roman shades when I saw them in EVERY amazing home. From Jillian Harris to Rach Parcell and beyond. The relaxed linen look is just so classy I can’t even! Mine is called the Cozy Linen Roman Shade and I chose colour “polar”…it’s the perfect white with a little warmth. You don’t have to worry about picking the right fabric though because you can have samples sent to you and they help you measure too!! My favourite part is how it drapes (no pun intended). We are about to install one over our kitchen sink and I can’t wait! Stay tuned!
Splurge vs Steal
Mirrors – Splurge
The major splurge in this space hands down are the mirrors. I wanted these at our last home and didn’t do it and I just keep thinking about them. They were too expensive for just any mirror, but in a bathroom I can justify it because we use them constantly and …well who cares…they are the most gorgeous mirrors that I have ever seen and I think that to myself every time I go in the bathroom. EVERY TIME! I got the mirrors from The Cross Design and if you haven’t seen this store…you will gasp!
Vanity – Steal
I found this vanity at Home Depot when I searched the world over for a double 60″ vanity with storage that was solid wood with a great shape and came with a marble top. I’m really happy with it. Drawers for me are the most important part in a vanity and completely keep us organized and the countertops empty. I’m so happy we went with white. It’s a small space and it makes the bathroom feel spacious!
Light -Steal
This light is from Canadian Tire. It’s a simple and classic drum linen shade. I had initially wanted a chandelier but once we installed the wallpaper and the mirrors which have so much detail I knew that if I did a chandelier the “feminine” touches would overwhelm the space, so I needed a simple fixture. It also had to be bright because it’s the only light in the space. This light really checked all the boxes for me and was a steal.

Monica Phillips says
Goodmorning, Leslie, It’s 5:30 in the morning and I can’t sleep, so I’m checking out your beautiful bathroom. I did see the “before” last summer when the” Maple Sisters”, mom, Medley, Wendy and I dropped in unannouced, lol, after an all day wine tour. First, let me say that the mirrors blew me away!!!!! They are gorgeous, and sounds funny, but they remind me of the pearl necklaces my mom used to wear back in the fifties. So pretty. Question: in the shower, did you leave the slanted ceiling, couldn’t actually tell by pics.? Monica.
leslie says
Hi Monica, yes it’s so cool that you saw it before! You guys were so cute that day after you tour! Yes the ceiling is still slanted! xo
gigi says
Do all of you use the same bathroom? Is there a bathtub somewhere in the house ?
leslie says
Yes we do. No there’s no bath tub my girls take showers and love them! We had to make the best decision in the long run and take the tub out. We have a powder room too on the main floor that we added, but there wasn’t one when we moved in! lol!
Nichol says
Where did you get the beveled tile from?
leslie says
It’s from Lowe’s 😉
Kelly says
Love the flooring in the bathroom!! Can you tell me where it is from?
leslie says
Thank you! it’s from Anatolia Tile and it’s the Calacatta Oro I think it was called 😉
leslie says
Also, we got the tile from Hi Neighbor if you’re local!
justyna says
Hi Leslie! I’ve been following you for a while now, and always love to sit down and give your site some nice attention, since your attention to detail is consistently amazing. I live in La Salle and am doing a lil bathroom update, and also got a Delta faucet recently (different style) but also in champagne bronze (THE BEST). I never thought of incorporating a toilet tank lever- genius! Question- where did you order the accessories from? Did you use a local dealer or just through Canadian Tire? Any recommendations for the best prices? Thanks!
leslie says
Hi, that’s awesome you’ll love the faucet. I got them directly from Delta but if you call local plumbing supply places you will be able to get Delta for sure. thanks so much for the kind words
Christine says
Your bathroom is gorgeous! Big inspiration for our new master bath! Where did you get the handle for the shower door and the rest of the glass shower hardware?
leslie says
Thank you! All of our shower glass is from Bayview Glass in Windsor and they are awesome. They provide the door hardware and hinges and a ton of style options. Thanks for the message and good luck with your Master Bath…so exciting!!
Mary says
LOVE this bathroom and love the “Toilette” sign – I need this! Would you share your source?
leslie says
Thank you so much Mary! Are you local? It’s from a super cute place near my house called “Dear Ladies”
she has the cutest handmade things!
Kaitlyn says
Leslie, this is incredible! May I ask what happened to the original heating fixture? Can those be removed in old homes?
leslie says
Thanks so much! The radiator is still there. I think what happened is that the before photo is taken with the bathroom door closed and the after with it open maybe, because the radiator is just behind the door when it’s open.
Katie says
Hi Leslie! I know this post is several years old, so hopefully you see my question! I am using this lovely bathroom as inspiration for my daughter’s. I absolutely love the flooring, and wondered about the material. Also, Do you find it slippery at all? Thanks!
leslie says
Hi, I don’t find it slippery no because of the tile pattern, you’re getting stopped on the grout lines. Maybe if they were huge tiles but not in this pattern we never did at all. It’s anatolia their mayfair faux marble look this was the calcatta oro version
