It’s been a while since I’ve shared a home update here on The Leslie Style — and I couldn’t think of a better way to return than with our new blue and white dining room reveal from our Pentilly Road renovation.
When I started dreaming up this space, I kept thinking about my trip to the Ralph Lauren Café in Chicago — the mix of florals, stripes, and polished classic details was unforgettable. I wanted to bring that same mood home, but with a twist that felt like us: an elevated coastal cottage look that complements the panoramic green views of Beach Grove Golf Course just outside our windows.
This blue and white dining room is our fresh take on coastal style — blending timeless charm with relaxed, lived-in beauty. It feels like the heart of our home, especially now that it opens up to the kitchen and living areas. (You can peek at one of our earliest renovations on Victoria Blvd. in Windsor Colonial Revival Reno to see how our 2nd project’s millwork, cased openings, and floral wallpaper inspired aspects of Pentilly Road, which is our 8th overhaul.)
The Inspiration
Our home is filled with blues and whites — they’re calming, timeless, and pair beautifully with the lush green golf course views. Instead of Ralph Lauren’s signature deep greens, I pivoted toward soft blues and layered whites to create something lighter and more coastal.

The Details
The dining table is the Monterey table from Serena & Lily — a total dream Facebook Marketplace find that we somehow managed to carry out of the seller’s home with the help of a few kind landscapers from across the street! (it weighs 400 lbs!) The white Restoration Hardware chairs were another Marketplace score, and they couldn’t be more perfect alongside the table’s trestle base.
The bench might be one of my favorite pieces — it adds warmth and texture while keeping the sightline open to our front entry. It doubles as an entry bench, which makes the space feel connected and practical, too.
The wallpaper is the Hydrangea print from Serena & Lily — it instantly brought this space to life. The combination of florals and stripes (the rug!) feels playful but still pulled together. If you’re considering wallpaper, do it! This paper has been by far the most complimented aspect of our house and it solidified out colour scheme- giving me the courage to continue hits of blue everywhere. (I can’t wait to show you our hallway
Lighting is where I really leaned into that Ralph Lauren polish — the Visual Comfort chandelier with its sculptural white shade adds contrast and drama, especially paired with the polished nickel sconces. We even added a ceiling medallion and crown moulding to highlight the new 12-foot ceilings we created during the renovation (the room was only 9 feet before!).
The Transformation
It’s hard to believe this bright, airy dining room was once our kitchen! The original layout featured a heavy stone wall that completely blocked the view — it looked more like a reception desk than a welcoming space. Moving the kitchen, adding French doors, cased openings between rooms, and reimagining this as the dining room changed everything.

Love how the space looks with the lights turned on!

Leslie as always it’s absolutely beautiful. 🥰 I love it
Hi Frances, thank you so much friend!
I’m glad you are back posting about your projects. I was just thinking about you and your Kingsville historical home. We stayed there a few years ago, and my late wife got several ideas (and a lot of photos) from your decorating. I wish that place was still available for vacation stays, but life goes on. Take care and keep these posts coming!
Regards, Jim Maslanka
Hi Jim, oh that’s so kind of you to share and means a lot to us! I’m so glad you enjoyed your stay. Yes, we sold that home. Our life had taken us in different directions. Thanks again for your message. I’m so sorry to hear about your wife.
