Hey guys, if you have low ceilings or a window that is really close to the ceiling, you’re going to freaking love this channel track drapery hack! You might have seen on my Instagram stories that Juliette got new dreamy custom velvet drapery her bedroom, and that I hung the drapes with an ingenious alternative to a rod and rings from QDesign Centre, I can’t wait to show you the drapery and a few more new changes to the space.
Channel Track Hardware Drapery Hack
Juliette’s bedroom windows are part of a large dormer and the trim happens to be very close to the ceiling around the windows, so I couldn’t use a normal drapery rod in her space, as there isn’t enough room between the trim and ceiling to screw a traditional rod into the wall. You guys know I love Q Design Centre and have been ordering custom drapery online from them for years and years. What’s so amazing about the owner of the company is that she has the perfect solution for every window. When I shared this space with her, she immediately told me that I needed a channel track. A channel track is a rod that is screwed directly to the ceiling and the drapery hooks are hooked directly into the track from below. So the drapery is actually hanging from the ceiling and not the wall. It’s perfect for lower ceilings because you get the illusion of more height and for spaces with trim that butt against the ceiling. I chose the satin brass finish with the end cap finial.

Velvet Drapery
This is my first time having velvet drapery, but it will not be the last! Oh my gosh it’s gorgeous in person, it has a heavier weight which makes the room feel really cosy, and the way it lets light in is a very gauzy soft light that feels really romantic. Velvet is perfect for a bedroom. When I close Juliette’s drapes the whole space feels magical and incredibly cozy…the feeling of the space is totally transformed from the luxurious fabric. My fabric is the Soho Velvet in the colour Arctic with 6″ inch 2 fold pleats.
How to Order Custom Drapery Online
In case you’re at all worried about ordering such a custom item online, I wrote an entire blog post about it, which I’ll share the link, here. I have never been to QDesign and all of my drapery has arrived perfectly. The most amazing part is that you don’t measure and then tell them the length of panels you want, because we don’t know how to do that type of measuring. Instead you give a diagram of your space where you fill in specific measurements of your room and then the drapery is custom made to fit your space, it makes measuring easy and fool proof…with drapery and hardware that arrives perfect every time…but read this blog post about how to order custom drapery online, because I go into a ton of useful detail about the process!
Light Blue and Pink Colour Refresh
Do you guys remember her bedroom before? It was completely champagne and gold which I loved, but I also love changing things up! Click, here, to see her room before and additional sources. The addition of light blue has made it feel fresh for spring. I added a light blue rug, throw, some ginger jars of course, and my favourite chinoiserie pillow. Adding blues to your pinks is a super easy way to update an all pink space.
