After two years of owning our rattan Serena and Lily Topeka Mirror, I’m sharing an honest review and a living room restyle, plus all the ways I’ve styled the mirror throughout the years! I actually have 5 rattan mirrors in this home and I feel like they are my go-to styling accessory, so I’ve also rounded up my favourite rattan mirrors below too. This post is in partnership with Serena & Lily, a brand I love. All opinions here are my own.
One of my favourite focal points in a home is the fireplace. In our lakehouse, I made so many design decisions that pivoted around centering the room on the fireplace with builtins on either side. I actually closed off a large opening on the left side that lead to the family room, so that I could move the fireplace into the centre of the room to have a symmetrical living room. After all that work to create such a strong focal point, I needed the perfect piece to hang over the fireplace between my favourite sconces. My style is airy, modern, and feminine and so I wanted a mirror that had detail while still feeling modern. I also knew I wanted rattan to balance the glass and brass sconces, and I wanted round to contrast with the straight lines of the fireplace and mantle.
Instantly, I knew that I wanted to use our Topeka mirror here. I had actually gotten it at our last home but it belonged in this living room. This mirror is so transitional, meaning that it can work with any style. This mirror could go in the most nautical spaces, or not even need coastal vibes at all. It just works anywhere.
Topeka Mirror Rave Review
Two Sizes and Two Colours
This mirror actually also comes in a larger 46″ size. My home has 8ft ceilings so I couldn’t accommodate the larger size, but if I had the height I would get the largest size in a heartbeat, which would be perfect over a fireplace, or a console table and steal the show.
The mirror also comes in white, which is super cute. The white colorway would really pop if you had it over a dark wall colour or wallpaper.
Transitional and Timeless
I’ve been styling our lakehouse for 1.5 years now since we finished the year long reno and the Topeka Mirror has blended in seamlessly with every new design style I’ve tried and every holiday. Keep reading to see a slideshow of the past ways that I’ve styled the Topeka mirror. Each way is so different and the mirror perfectly compliments them all.
Wear
The mirror’s colouring has remained in the exact same condition as when I got it 2.5 years ago, so I’ve had no issues with it yellowing or darkening, or becoming brittle and the rattan breaking where its wrapped, which has happened with other rattan pieces I own.

Rattan Mirror Round-Up
Rattan mirrors are literally my favourite go-to styling piece! I freaking love them, and like I said, I have 5 rattan mirrors in our house right now! Serena and Lily has such an amazing collection in every shape, size, and colour. I would love to get their full-length tall Lenai Mirror...I just love the contour lines. Imagine you had massive height in a bathroom and could put two of the largest 69″H mirrors over each sink?! Just put that on my design bucket list!! I’m manifesting building a beach house with epic ceiling height one day! Do guys have any rattan mirrors that you love, in your home? They really help update any space by adding a modern touch.
