Hi Guys, popping on to give you an update on our One Room Challenge Master Bedroom project. All the drywall is done and the mudding is almost done. If you’re new to the project our bedroom began as a really tricky space with literally no wall space for anything. We decided reframe the walls so that we could gain more usable space and a lake view through a new furniture layout and windows.
Here are some progress shots from beginning to now.
I ordered the windows for the big opening. I can’t believe how hard I struggled to figure them out. I hope in the end I made the right decision. I ordered a bank of 5 windows. I wanted to keep things as narrow and tall feeling as I could since the opening is so wide. The reason I had to go so wide is because the water view is all on the right side, so I was trying to get as much “right side” as possible while keeping it symmetrical.
Next Steps and Inspiration I Love!
Wall Treatments
Next up wall treatments. I want to put wainscoting on all the walls in the room and even the ceiling! Similar to what we did at our last house in the living room.
I had our friend Matt over yesterday (he hung the wallpaper in our recent mudroom reveal) to talk it through. I hope to start that quickly. I hope we’ll start drawing it out in the next day or two, so I can measure and get the materials here for when he has some free time…maybe next weekend! I hope!
Wallpaper…hopefully on the ceiling!
I love the palm beach vibe, and classic coastal vibes, but I also want a few modern touches. I want to infuse the space with pattern and a light blue accent colour. I’m thinking of a million things right now.
Can’t wait to share what we get up to next week!
