Ummm my family room is empty?!!! I know what you’re thinking…I’m moving right?! You guys! I told you this was my forever house and I mean it! lol! It’s empty for a way better reason than moving! I’m restyling the entire space with The Brick! Cue the band and streamers falling from the ceiling! I can’t wait to share the stunning, yet totally functional family room furniture look that I curated from The Brick! My goal with the new furniture for our family room is to create a comfortable, yet designer look on a family friendly budget!
Disclosure: This post is sponsored by The Brick. As always, all of the opinions here are my own.
Our Current Function-LESS Family Room
We keep our T.V. on top of the wood island cart. We didn’t have the t.v. when the above photos were taken, so I snapped a pic a few nights ago of Matt watching Anthony Bourdain! (we love him so much! lol!) It was super dark out, but you’ll get the idea!
Functionality Issues
- We don’t have enough seating
- The layout has brutal conversational and T.V. Feng Shui
- The white slipcovered couch is covered in a blanket because it stains so easily…we always have this blanket on it to protect it?! So ridiculous!
Goals for the New Space
- Create a “U” shape with the furniture for awesome conversation and t.v. viewing
- Move the t.v. to the mantle over the fireplace on the other side of the room
- Choose furniture in a fabulous AND family friendly fabric

New Layout Before and After
The Low Down on these Furniture Pieces!
Ok so you won’t believe this, but the furniture collection is so brand new that some of the pieces have not even hit the website yet! So they are like brand new, so hot off the presses! However, all of the pieces shown are in the store now, so you can go in, test them out, and order.
I am able to link the Tula sofa and loveseat but the coordinating chairs and ottoman aren’t up on the site yet. You can get chairs in both coordinating fabrics shown on the pillows. We got two striped chairs for the family room and I totally already want to get the medallion fabric chairs for the living room…both are so good! Obsessed!
Colour Choice
I chose the sofa and loveseat in mist!! I freaking love that The Brick has colour options like these. You can also get the same pieces in grey, but when there is a soft blue option I’m sold! Choosing a fab colour is such a great way to get a designer look! AND yes, the pillows come with it! Eeeep! So Gorg!
For this space I am also including the most gorgeous Brass Sparta Mirror which will really highlight the starburst shape of our existing sconces.
Lastly, I’m including two of these Mirrored Enna Cabinets from The Brick, which will be perfect for storage and for resting drinks. I love the doors; they have a super high end feel. I also love that these cabinets provide storage which is family friendly, but elevates the overall feeling of the room which is so chic. You really don’t have to compromise on style, in order to be family friendly!
Our Last Family Room Renovation
Do you guys remember last spring when I transformed the family room at our last home for the One Room Challenge? It’s one of my most popular posts ever. I had the same goal with that home: to find furniture that would be really functional but be really stylish!
Not only is it possible but the super star sectional from the space was from The Brick! I can’t even tell you how many DM’s, comments, and even texts messages, and phone calls that I got about that sectional…it’s one of my most asked about pieces, and I know it’s because of the stylish shape and colour option that it came in. People couldn’t believe the price tag and that they could get it at their local Brick.
When we sold our home, the owners insisted that it be left with the home…saying goodbye was so sad!
Real Talk
The sectional in my last family room was not sponsored, I had just scoured the earth for a stylish piece with an unbelievable price tag.
I’m so thrilled now to be able to partner with The Brick on all of the pieces in our new family room because not only are we going to freaking love it, but it’s an affordable and easy way for you guys to be able to recreate a part or all of the look! So fun!
If you’d like to see the renovation and sources of the Flamingo Family Room I’ll link it here!
What do you guys think of the pieces that I chose? I can’t wait to hear your thoughts! Not to mention show you the finished space!!

I so appreciate your honesty regarding the difficulty in keeping the white looking clean. Seems everyone in Blog Land has a white or beige sofa and I never hear a complaint! I love the color you’ve chosen and look forward to the reveal!

Oh thanks…yes the material of slipcovered couches is really hard in my experience and really labor intensive because as soon as you have a spill you need to strip the entire couch and wash everything and the time it takes to take off the slipcovers and put them back on is so intense! I’m tired just thinking about it! lol! We got one of the pieces and the colour is really fantastic in person! The rest is arriving in the next hour and I’m dying to see it and then show you! thanks for the comment!
